How it works

Welcome to the Hook & Southborough CC Fantasy Cricket competition for 2003, now in its fourth year. The rules are simple. You have £10 to build your team with and hope that your combination can overcome opposing teams.

Simply pick a team of eleven players from the attached sheet based on last years performances and values (your team's total value must not exceed £10). There are no restrictions on the number of batsmen/bowlers or wicketkeepers, only on the total number of players and the total value.

The result of matches (and therefore your teams overall performance) will be calculated on a regular basis and posted on the Hook & Southborough CC website (www.hook1870.org.uk) and in the club house. You may even register your entry on-line.

What can you win?

1st Place 25% of the total entrance fees
2nd Place 10% of the total entrance fees
Knock out cup winner 15% of the total entrance fees

The balance (50%) of the total entrance fees goes to the club. Therefore, the more entries the more prize monies to the winners and more funds to your club.

How much does it cost?

1 team = £5, 3 teams = £10

How are points scored?

Points will be scored from all cricket matches played by Hook & Southborough. This includes Saturdays, Sundays, Midweek and Cricket Week games.

Batting
--------
1 point scored per run
50 points scored per 50 scored
100 points scored per 100 scored

Bowling
----------
20 points per wicket taken
50 points per 5 wicket innings
100 points per 10 wicket innings
5 points per maiden bowled
Fielding
----------
20 points per outfield catch
10 points per wicket keepers catch
20 points per stumping
20 per run out featured in

When does it start and finish?

Due to the ever-increasing length of the football season and the weather always being a faction inclement at the start of the cricket season, the competition begins on Saturday 10th May 2003 and ends on the last weekend - 28th September 2003 vs Ashford.

Can I enter after the competition has started?

Yes. However, as this may give you an unfair advantage over those already entered, all points scored by the players in your team up until that date you enter will be halved. In other words if you pick a team which until that point had scored 100 points, you would only start with 50. You will however score normally there after.

Can I have substitutes during the season?

Simply NO. This year you are not allowed to make substitutes during the competition, so pick your players wisely.

OK, I want to enter this fantastic competition. How do I do it?

Fill in the attached entry form and hand it in together with your money to Phil Evans or Trevor Whittaker, or your regular skipper. Alternatively, fill in your entry on-line at www.hook1870.org.uk/fantasy/entry.htm

Format

This year in addition to the league will be a knock out cup.

The knockout cup will take place during the league season and will be on the weekends when all 3 teams have league matches (if possible). The number of rounds will depend on the number of entrants.
Each team entered will be drawn against another and the team that scores the most points that week will proceed to the next round until we have 2 teams left who will compete for the final (the last weekend of the League season). In the event of the scores being tied in any round then the previous weeks scores will decide the winner.
